For the Burger
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 chuck recommended)
- Firecracker Farm Three Kings Hot Salt
- Fresh cracked black pepper
- 4 slices American cheese or sharp cheddar
- 4 soft burger buns (potato rolls or brioche)
- Butter or oil for toasting buns
- Optional toppings: sliced pickles, grilled onions, ketchup, mustard, mayo
Instructions:
- Preheat Your Pan: Use a cast iron skillet or flat top griddle over medium-high heat. Let it get smoking hot.
- Form Loose Balls: Divide ground beef into 4 loosely packed balls (about 4 oz each). Don’t overwork them.
- Smash & Sear: Place beef balls onto the hot surface. Immediately smash flat with a spatula or burger press. Season generously with Firecracker Farm Hot Salt and cracked pepper.
- Cook Until Crispy: Let cook undisturbed for 2–3 minutes until the edges are brown and crispy.
- Flip & Cheese: Flip each patty and immediately top with cheese. Cook 1–2 minutes more until melted.
- Toast the Buns: Butter the buns and toast them face-down in the pan until golden.
- Assemble: Stack patties on buns with your favorite toppings. Add another sprinkle of Firecracker Farm Hot Salt for bonus flavor and heat.
To Serve
Serve hot with fries, slaw, or a cold beer. Warning: once you’ve had a smash burger with Firecracker Farm Hot Salt, plain salt will never cut it again.
